I'm Clint McMahon. I build web applications and modernize the ones that have stopped keeping up, and I have been doing it from Minneapolis for over twenty years.

Most of my work is one of two things. An organization has data spread across systems that do not talk to each other, or it is running on a platform that is past end of life. I build the application that resolves it.

Why Hire a Freelancer Instead of an Agency

Not always the right call, so here is the honest version.

• You get the senior person. The person you talk to is the person writing the code.
• Lower overhead. No account manager, no project coordinator layer, no office to pay for. That shows up in the rate.
• Faster decisions. Questions get answered the same day because there is nobody to route them through.
• Where an agency wins. If you need design, copywriting, brand strategy and development at once, or several people starting immediately, an agency is the better fit.

• Fixed-scope projects. A migration, a new application, a specific build. Scoped up front with a defined ending.

Working Together, Locally or Not

I'm in Minneapolis and I'm in the Central time zone, which matters more than people expect. Overlapping business hours means questions get answered the same day instead of the next morning.

If you are in the Twin Cities and want to meet in person for a kickoff or a working session, that is easy to arrange. Most of the actual work happens remotely, because that is how software gets built now, but being an hour from your office instead of nine time zones away changes how a project feels.

I also work with clients well outside Minnesota. Being local is a convenience, not a requirement.

Common Questions

What technologies do you work in?

Primarily C# and .NET, including ASP.NET Core and Umbraco, with SQL Server and Azure behind it. On the front end, React and plain JavaScript. I also do a fair amount of WordPress and Shopify work for clients who are already on those platforms.

Do you take small projects?

Sometimes. If it is genuinely small and well defined, yes. If it is small but vague, the assessment is usually the better starting point so we both know what we are looking at.

Can you take over a project someone else started?

Frequently. Inherited codebases and stalled projects are a real part of what I do. I will look at it first and give you an honest read on whether finishing it or restarting it is cheaper.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes, white-label. Umbraco migrations especially. You keep the client relationship and I do the work under your name.
